Well Groomed at Sycamore

Brooklyn the Borough's Nicole Brydson rounds up "this gay weekend," including the gay (and straight) night at Sycamore:

I have been eager to mention this super cool venue for some time. The Q-Train Party at Ditmas Park’s own Flowershop/Bar Sycamore is the second Thursday of each month. The upstairs will play host to a charcuterie board of well groomed local gays, while the downstairs whiskey cellar will cater to a less gay but just as fantastic music experience. Dark Dark Dark make a stop at the pungent establishment as part of their east coast tour, expect somber sweet tunes for a $10 cover. Drink special is bartender’s choice and the upstairs and garden are free for your enjoyment. Since this hood is the new stomping ground of the young professional, it’s the kind of party where I expect to meet my husband.
Not sure where to start, other than to protest that the straights in the basement will also be extremely well-groomed.

They just want to keep all straights in the basement while they enjoy their well groomed lives upstairs. Unfair. I want to be well groomed too, sit upstairs and pay too much for whiskey as well.

Don't need a husband for now, just had my 7th wedding anniversary, but check back in next year and will see where we are at.

Q Train is a lot of fun - I'd heard they were considering discontinuing it, very glad that rumor was wrong! Will be there tomorrow night, post-grooming, I suppose. Game ON.

I think of myself as fairly well-groomed as well... but not gay. So, I'm wondering if I'm missing the point here. Anyone want to explain?

Sycamore always has gay and straight folks. This is the neighborhood. So, is the idea that this is going to be a "destination" for gay folks around the city?! And what would that mean... What "gay themes" are being employed?

Just seems odd for the nieghborhood bar. Also the comment, "the cellar will cater to a less gay... music experience," is odd... no? Are all the gay guys from the neighborhood who are normally there anyway going to put on short shorts and sing showtunes? Or are "real gays" being shipped in from Manhattan for this "event"?

Don't get it. If I didn't have plans tonight, i guess I would stop by to see what the Sycamore "gay experience" is all about...

What is "charcuterie board of well groomed local gays"? How badly will it effect one's cholesterol?
