
Our neighbor Alyssa Katz is having a reading and launch party her extremely topical book, Our Lot, at BookCourt today (Thursday) at 7 pm, and it's worth stopping by (and/or buying the book).
Katz was researching the coming real estate crash before it really came, and the book concludes with a chapter on Brooklyn's recent real estate upheavals. She emails that she's expecting the conversation to include her former Carroll Gardens neighbors with whom she endured a botched condo conversion on, and conversation about how the bubble has changed the borough.

Haven't been to the book court in ages. Looks like they rehabbed the place nicely. I guess I got distracted by B&N and of course Amazon. We had a nice book store on Cortelyou Road for a long time. It was a bit expensive though. The owner retired and sold it to a young couple, that wasn't able to keep it open for very long. Barnes and Nobles in the slope didn't help. A book store/coffee shop/internet cafe would be nice at the old flatbush coop location don't you think?
Ohhhh, a bookstore in the former coop location would be fantastic! I think the chances of that happening right now are about zero, though. Sigh.
