Gilbert Flores, the proprietor of Belle & Maxie, which sells beautiful toys and children's clothes on Cortelyou Road, tells us he's closing his shop by Friday, August 29.
He'll be having a store-wide sale of 25% to 75% off everything in the store, then moving the shop to the Internet.
"I have enjoyed everyone and my time here," Gilbert emails.

Frankly, not particularly a surprise. No foot traffic, no parking.
Also, no market. I don't think we are yet at the point where there would be enough repeat business for a specialized store like this. Even as our nabe becomes more gentrified, this is still not Park Slope. To bad, it was a nice store.
I would have loved to shop there, head it EVER been open when I was home. Best of luck to them in their next endeavor.
Don't know that this would have worked on 7th Ave. either.
